Mixed Repertoire
One of America’s most acclaimed and treasured dance companies, Dance Theatre of Harlem returns to White Bird with an exhilarating mixed repertory program of classics and contemporary work that embodies founder Arthur Mitchell’s belief that ballet belongs to everyone. Now in its fifth decade, Dance Theatre of Harlem has grown into a multicultural dance institution with an extraordinary legacy of providing opportunities for creative expression and artistic excellence that continues to set standards in the performing arts.
What you'll see on stage:
Dance Theatre of Harlem is a leading ballet company based in the Harlem neighborhood of New York City. Their dancers are all masters of classical ballet technique who are equally skilled in contemporary ballet. Dance Theatre of Harlem’s program will feature current dance works from some of the most acclaimed choreographers of the 21st century; some works will be danced en pointe (in pointe shoes) to classical music, while others will showcase the dancers’ prowess in more modern, grounded movement. Dance Theatre of Harlem is among the largest (and most popular!) of the dance companies White Bird presents: expect to see grand, sweeping ensemble pieces, punctuated by impressive turns, jumps, and lifts.
